‘Isabella or the pot of Basil’ is a keats poem adapted from boccaccio’s decameron. isabella is to wed nobility but falls for the worker bee (lorenzo, of course), etc. the short of it is that her bothers kill her true love and she plants his head in a pot of basil which she tends for the remainder…
i was merely obsessing for a few days over how much easier a head must be to tend…
although, now that i have distance from this temporary obsession, truth be told, i tend to kill basil too.
What’s the story behind these?
I’m intrigued.
